Curriculum

Curriculum

The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum, with the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are relevant and meaningful to the needs of today and tomorrow's society.

The curriculum relates to the development of the whole child and there is a strong belief in providing a wide range of experiences across the curriculum.

Activities are purposeful, stimulating, and wherever possible, learning is through first hand experiences. Where appropriate, subjects are taught through topics. Topics run in a two-year cycle and are cross curricular. Throughout the school curriculum, areas are revisited, building on skills and knowledge acquired and giving continuity and progression to the children's work. A variety of teaching styles and forms of pupil organisation are employed, as we recognize the benefit of different approaches in achieving effective learning. The children are organised in four classes. Reception. Year 1 and 2, Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6. Class teachers differentiate activities to match the ability and age of the pupils.
